Groton, VT-  Leverett Leon Welch, 85, died on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton.

Leverett was born in West Groton, VT on April 6, 1933, to Harry and Murdena (Graham) Welch.  He served his country in the US Army.

For many years, Leverett worked for the Town of Groton Highway Department.  He had also been employed in the quarries in Barre and Ryegate.

In his spare time, he loved motorcycling, snowmobiling, and repairing snowmachines.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting.  Leverett loved being around his family.

He is survived by three children, Murdena Baker and husband Peter of Groton, Tammy Cochran and husband Andy of Peacham, VT, and Randy Welch and wife Dona of Bradford, VT; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Welch.

At Leverett's request, no public services are being planned.
