Sarasota, FL Linda (Ames) Wagner, 65, formerly of Groton, VT, died on Monday, March 28, 2011 at her home in Sarasota following an extended illness. She was born in Haverhill, NH, August 5, 1945, a daughter of Roland C. and Florence (Oliver) Ames. Prior to retiring Linda worked for 35 years as a dental assistant with her husband Dr. Howard Wagner at his practice in Littleton. Following their retirement they spent winters in Sarasota and summered at Groton Pond in Vermont. Linda was a member of the VFW Women s Auxilary and served as a past president of the Littleton and State Auxilary Units. A true sun worshipper, Linda loved being outside at the beach. She loved flowers and gardening. Linda enjoyed bringing friends and family together which she often did through her cooking, a joy she expressed through creating and sharing her own recipes, sometimes late into the night . Survivors include her husband, Dr. Howard Wagner of Sarasota; her children, Gregory Chandler Chad Holmes, Jr. and his fianc Concetta Hollinger of Sarasota; Nathan Wagner and wife Karen, and their children Anika and Beck of Stowe, VT, and Erika Beth Stevens and husband Anthony and their son, Sawyer of Jackson Hole, WY; a brother, William Ames of Massachusetts, along with several nieces, nephews, who lovingly refer to her as Auntie . She was predeceased by sister, Phyllis Ames; and three brothers, Erland, Robert and Richard Ames. A graveside service will be on Monday, June 6, 2011, at 11 AM at the Horse Meadow Cemetery, North Haverhill, with Pastor Susan Ellery of the Woodsville United Methodist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave, New York, NY 10065 or your local Hospice.
