North Haverhill, NH-  Lois Jean Chapman, 82, a life-long area resident, died on Monday, February 6, 2017, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, following a period of failing health.

Lois was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on August 12, 1934, a daughter of Harold and Ethel (Somers) Locke.  Over the years, she was employed locally at the Lisbon Shoe Shop in Lisbon, NH, and at Woodsville Industries.

Lois did spend twelve years in Keezar Falls, ME and belonged to the Legion Auxiliary there. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed doing needlepoint.

She married David L. "Chappy" Chapman on March 24, 1963 and he predeceased her on December 17, 1998.  She was also predeceased by a son, Gerald "Buddy" Mardin on October 22, 1969; and by three brothers, Harvey, Gilman, and William Locke.

Lois is survived by three daughters, Lorraine M. Stiegler and husband Frank of North Haverhill, Nancy Lou Burbank and husband Steve of Bath, NH, and Debbie Tyler and husband Rick also of Bath; two sons, Brian Mardin and companion Maureen Nolin of Claremont, NH, and David L. Chapman, Jr. of Porter, ME; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson; a brother, Robert Locke and wife Priscilla of Lisbon, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Lois's request, there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be on Saturday, June 3, at 11 AM in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville, NH.
