Lois A Welch, 85, Wells River, VT, died at her home with family at her side on Monday April 17, 2023. She was born on January 31, 1938, in North Ryegate, VT to Edward A. and Beryl M (Whitehill) Bailey. She grew up locally and graduated from Groton High School with the class of 1956.

Lois worked as a cook at Blue Mt Union School for 18 years and later in the kitchen for Grafton County Nursing Home for 14 years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and served as a trustee of the South Ryegate United Presbyterian Church for many years. In her free time she loved spending time with her family, watching her birdies, tending to her flower gardens and she loved her loyal dog companion, Bugsy.

She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth Bailey in 1993 and Norman Bailey in 2019. She is survived by a son, Randy H. Welch and his wife Dona of Bradford, VT, two daughters, Murdena Baker and her husband Peter of Groton, VT, and Tammy Cochran and her husband Andy of Peacham, VT, as well as 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Per Lois's wishes there will be a private family graveside service at the Groton Village Cemetery.
