Newbury, VT- Lois Williams White, 90, formerly of Newbury, died on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH.

Lois was born on September 6, 1925 in Groton, VT to Carroll M. and Millie (Coddington) Williams.

The family moved to South Washington, VT in November 1933 and in September 1936, they moved to Newbury. She was a graduate of Newbury High School, Class of 1943. Lois contributed to the war effort by working at General Electric in Schenectady, NY from 1943-1945. She married Thaddeus White on February 17, 1946.

Lois was a trustee of the Newbury Townhouse Cemetery Association as well as a member of The First Congregational Church of Newbury, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #20, the Ladies Auxiliary #2571, the Bradford and Newbury Historical Societies, and the Newbury Women's Fellowship. Recently, she was recognized for her commitment and longevity to the Oxbow Chapter of the DAR. She was a well-known resource for her knowledge of local history.

Lois will long be remembered for her kindness and generosity.

She was predeceased by her husband Thaddeus White on October 21, 1996; a grandson, Stephen Joseph Culbert on May 28, 1980; and by two sisters, Eleanor McKinney and Myrtle Cushman.

She is survived by her children, Merry Muller of Dover, NH, Constance Stys of Nashua, NH, and Charles White of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren and six great grandsons; a sister, Pauline Lemmerman of Delanson, NY; and by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be on Friday, May 20 at 3 PM at The First Congregational Church of Newbury, 4915 Main Street South, Newbury, VT with Rev. Kate Maver, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Townhouse Cemetery, Newbury, VT.
