Obituary

East Ryegate, VT- Lola Smith Murray, 82, of Symes Pond Road, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Lola was born on March 19, 1933 in Lipps, KY to Churchill and Flora (Smith) Smith.

On May 22, 1948, she married Robert Franklin Murray in Wells River, VT.

Lola attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Woodsville, NH. She enjoyed crafts such as crocheting, knitting, sewing, painting, and flower gardening. She was known as a fine baker of breads and desserts. She enjoyed her vegetable garden and canning her produce. Lola was very proud to finish high school as an adult and earned her high school diploma in 1995 from Blue Mountain Union School.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Robert F. Murray on November 27, 2009; a brother, R.J. Smith; five sisters, Ethel Smith, Thelma Smith, Daisy Woods, Virdie Grubb, and Edna Souvigney.

She is survived by her children, Linda Bradshaw and husband Bernard of Monroe, NH, Sherry Carlson and husband David of College Station, TX, Robert N. Murray and Nancy Blaise of Alburgh, VT, and Timothy Murray and Monica Douglas of East Ryegate; six grandchildren, Brian Bradshaw and Katina Comstock, Justin Bradshaw and wife Hilary, Karen Carlson and Amanda Chapman, Alison Carlson and Jay Clatt, Gregory Murray and Ashley Blodgett, and Jaime Murray; eight great grandchildren, Andrew, Harmony, Brandon, Hollyn, Hudson, Savannah, Shawn, and Kendall; three sisters, Evelyn Boardman of East Ryegate, Lattie Joyce Smith of East Bernstadt, KY, and Genetta Green of Baltimore, MD; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A calling hour will be on Monday, March 7 from 11AM to 12 PM with a funeral service to begin at 12 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.

Burial will be in the spring in the Blue Mountain Cemetery, East Ryegate.
