Lorraine
Marcotte
March 27, 2024
Lorraine Marcotte also lovingly called "Sweet Lorraine", Electric Lorraine, and Memere, went on her final journey on March 27th at 96 years young. She passed peacefully, with her family by her side.
Lorraine was born on January 13th, 1928, in St. Johnsbury to Florida (Boutte) and Alfred Letourneau, she met Frank Marcotte, "the love of her life", in Troy NY at a movie theatre. They married on August 13th, 1948, and eventually moved to Peacham where they built a home and raised 7 children. Lorraine worked as a homemaker, a nanny, and a house cleaner. She was a hard worker and was always busy, but in rare moments of leisure, she enjoyed birdwatching through her windows overlooking Ewell Pond. She and Frank lived happily, in the home they built with the help of their children, until his passing in 1993. Unable to keep up with the demands of a large house alone, she eventually moved back to St. Johnsbury, where life had started.
Lorraine was a force of goodness and kindness in the world, as any of her neighbors at the Railroad Street Apartments, her fellow worshippers at the Kingdom Hall of Lyndonville, or her many descendants would attest. She was a boundless giver of praise and encouragement, with scolding reserved exclusively for those who attempted to do her dishes. Lorraine spent her life centering others, cheering on the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren; never complaining when times were difficult. She walked through life humbly, with a deep appreciation that set her apart and drew people to her side. Her gratitude for life's gifts and affectionate nature ensured that she never lacked company in her little apartment, which, while modest, felt like home to all who entered.
She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lorraine is survived by her children Carol (Ed) Shields, Craig Marcotte, Cary (Debbie) Marcotte, Candice (Ralph) Crocker, Carl (Karen) Marcotte and Casey (Lynn) Marcotte. Additionally, she leaves behind 28 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild.
She is predeceased by her husband, Frank Marcotte, and sons Chris Marcotte and Cory Marcotte.
There will be a service at the Kingdom Hall at 2 PM on Saturday, April 6th, 2024.
