Monroe, NH- Lothar Fredrick Riba, 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, NH. Lothar was born in Minot, ND on October 15, 1932, the son of Lothar C. and Martha (Zempel) Riba. He graduated from Bismarck High School, then attended Bismarck Junior College. Lothar graduated from North Dakota State University, Class of 1954. He served with the U.S. Army and later went to work in Dallas, TX as a civil engineer. Later he worked in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Lothar came to Monroe in 1979 from Connecticut. He owned and operated the former Monroe Country Store from 1982 to 2000. On June 28, 2006, he married Elaine Lenore Anderson. Lothar was active in Republician politics and also served on the Monroe Budget Committee. He was a member of the Ford retractable antique car club and the Buick antique car club. He was predeceased by his parents, Lothar C. Riba in 1988 and Martha (Zempel) Riba in 1999; and a brother, Jerry Riba. Survivors include his wife of eight years, Elaine Lenore (Anderson) Riba; two sons, Ronald Riba of Portland, OR and Alan Riba of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; three grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Riba of Spokane, WA. A graveside service will be at the St. Peter s Lutheran Cemetery in Hannover, ND on Monday, July 28, at 1 PM.
