Marcia E
Bridge
October 10, 2024
Marcia Edith Bridge
In the early morning hours of October 10th, the Lord took the hand of Marcia, and like the He had with the ancient Children of Israel, led her across the proverbial Jordon into the Promised Land, and to the heavenly home he had prepared for her.
Marcia Editrh Bridge (Kollbeck) was born on September 20, 1945, to Arthur Robert Kollbeck, and Edith Vitolia Kollbeck (Pearson) in Providence, Rhode Island. She graduated in 1965 from Hope High School in Providence, and matriculated to Shelton College, Ringwood, New Jersey. She returned to Rhode Island where she was employed by the Army map service, in West Warwick, as a cartographist, and later at the Electric Terminal Corporation (ETCO) in Warwick. She was a member of the RI Honor Society.
Marcia had a beautiful alto singing voice. She sang in the Providence youth choir, and the Rhode Island Civic Choral, especially enjoying the annual Bach Festival, and the Chorales presentation of Verdi's Aida. She continued to sing in Vermont, becoming a member for several years of the North Country Chorus, and working making costumes for the annual madrigal dinner, and helping in the Easter cake sales. While traveling to church or down to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, she would often harmonize with the Christian radio station or the cars CD player. She was also known for her love of animals, hoping in high school to become a veterinarian.
On the evening of November 15, 1974, she married the Rev. Dr. Melvin G. Bridge. In July 2003, she retired from the Electric Terminal Corporation (ETCO), and a year later, she and her husband moved to the home they had had built in North Ryegate, Vermont. Besides her husband, she leaves, a daughter, Traci Lynn Rye and her husband Jason, of Kalispell, Montana. A step-son George William from Somsert, Michigan, a step-son John Wesley, and his wife Ahna, from Hillsborough, North Carolina, and a step-daughter, Catherine Joy Whited of Mulvane, Kansas. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and one great-grandson, and numerous cousins.
She is predeceased by her parents, and a step-son, Daniel Frederick Bridge, and a step-son-in-law, Ronald Whited.
The Bridge family would like especially to thank the nurses of Hospice for the tender care they gave to Marcia during her illness. God bless you all!
