Margaret Mary
Hunt
March 15, 1934 – February 28, 2019
Margaret was born on March 15, 1934 in Bellows Falls, Vt. to Robert J. Burns and Mary E. (Ludwig) Burns Lynch. She was the last remaining sibling of sisters; Mary Hawkes , Marie Gray, Frances Seale, and Dorothy Smith and her only brother, Raymond Burns. She was deeply saddened and impacted by the loss of her first born son, Robert R. Bragg, on Dec. 5th, 2017.
In her youth Margaret spent many cherished summers in Massachusetts. She reminisced often about the adventurous years with family and friends while living in Farmington, N.H.
All who knew Margaret embraced her zest for life and respected her commitment to strong work ethics that she displayed throughout her daily life. She worked in many factory settings until finding passion with her last professional position as a Dietary Service Aide for the Grafton County Nursing Home. While there she worked full-time for 13 years until the age of 81. Many will tell you she put the younger staff members to shame with her fast foot work and determination to excel. It is believed that she would have continued to work at Grafton County had it not been for her poor health. This resulted in her "early retirement".
This amazing woman leaves behind her husband of 41 years, Reginald W. Hunt. Through the years they shared together there were many weekend getaways with family and friends. If you mentioned getting together and playing cards to Margaret you could be sure she would be on your front-door step with a deck of cards in hand in no time at all. Adventures to Oxford and Foxwoods Casinos were journeys enjoyed immensely by Margaret and her husband.
Margaret was an active Auxiliary member since 1981. She received many awards for her participation and service. She served as President in 1993, 2002 and 2010. Many admired her tenacity, ability and creativity ensuring projects get completed. She was known for her tireless effort in raising the funds necessary for the World War II Memorial that stands at Washington D.C. Margaret found great pleasure in being involved with the Children and Youth Programs, Junior Programs, Community Events and the Special Olympics. Involvement with the American Legion and Auxiliary spanned decades and fostered many memories and friendships for her.
She will be missed forever by her daughters Debra Bragg-Caron, Cape Canaveral Fl., Shelby Aubert of Monroe, N.H. and son Donald Bragg and his wife Maureen Bragg also of Monroe, N.H. She is survived by 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge the caring and professional services received through the North Country Home Health & Hospice Agency. With heartfelt appreciation specifically to Anita, Torrie and Sue for their professionalism, services and care during this difficult transition. Furthermore; a special thank you to the Ricker Funeral Home for their assistance in caring for our loved one and lessening the hardship for us.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 11:00am in the Monroe Village Cemetery, Plains Road, Monroe NH, with Father William J. Watts officiating.
