Margaret "Peggy" Ann Locke, aged 73, of Ryegate, VT, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 23, 1952, in Concord, VT, she was the cherished daughter of the late William A. Santaw Jr. and Marjorie (Shaw) Santaw.
Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Russell Locke, in 2012, as well as her brother, William Santaw, and sister, Carol Patterson. She is survived by her four children: Mark Locke and wife Tanya of North Haverhill, NH; William Locke of Ryegate, VT; Robert Glenn of Berlin, NH; and Alicia Locke-Roman of North Woodstock, NH. Peggy was a proud grandmother to Mikayla, Gabriella, Alexis, Tony, Jayden, and Damien, and a doting great-grandmother to Everly, Markus, and Locklin. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Santaw of Ryegate, VT, and four sisters: Karen Huntoon of Florida, Anne Pike of Rhode Island, Sandra Santaw of South Carolina, and Jeanette Spence and husband James of Florida.
Peggy was a woman of deep compassion, known for her belief that every child deserved a home. She opened her heart as a foster parent to many children and welcomed numerous foreign exchange students into her family, leaving a global impact of kindness. She cherished summers at Old Orchard Beach, crafting, and reading. Her happiest moments were at the family camp on Miles Pond, and she was an avid WWE fan. Above all, she will be fondly remembered for her famous homemade donuts, a staple of warmth and comfort for all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 22, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ricker Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Woodsville, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, NH. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 24, at 1 PM at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 41 Nazarene Dr., North Haverhill, NH. Burial will occur in the spring at Blue Mountain Cemetery in Ryegate, VT.
