Haverhill, NH – Marguerite Burroughs Righter, 94, died on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH. She was born in Ames, Iowa, January 14, 1919, the daughter of Rev. Roy and Jean (Pollworth) Burroughs. Marguerite graduated from Ames High School in Ames, Iowa and Grinnell College in Iowa. She worked for the Red Cross in San Antonio, TX during WWII where she met Walter Righter, who became her husband of 39 years. They answered callings at churches Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and finally Iowa. She enjoyed people, church activities, and collecting miniatures. Marguerite lived in Haverhill Corner for 20 years, the Atkinson Home in Newbury, VT, and later at the Grafton County Nursing Home. Marguerite was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Woodsville, NH and the PEO Women's group of the church and the guild. Survivors include her son, Dr. Richard S. Righter, DVM and wife Shirley of Keene, NH; a daughter, Becky Righter Richardson and husband Don of DesMoines, Iowa; and a granddaughter, Katy Richardson. A private burial service will be held in the Ladd Street Cemetery, Haverhill, NH in the spring.
