Groton, VT- Marion Etta Darling, 87, of East Glauchester Road, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, surrounded by her family. Marion was born on May 12, 1927, in Topsham, VT to Charles Ralph and Luvia (Evans) Emerson. Marion was a homemaker and cared for her family. She loved cooking. She worked for Community Action and volunteered for many worthy causes. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene W. Darling in February 1978. She was also predeceased by her sister Hellene and by her brothers Ralph Waldo Emerson, Jr., Charles Warren Emerson and Henry Franklin Buster Emerson, and Paul Emerson. She is survived by her children, Kenneth W. and Louise (Hart) Darling, Leon E. and Brenda (Whiting) Darling, John H. and Donna (Hendry) Darling, Katherine I. Darling, Stanley G. Darling, Priscilla A. Darling and Bill Arps, and Henry F. Darling and partner Lynn Moulton; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson; siblings, John Henry Emerson, Luvia Irene Darling, and Sophronia Gardner; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Marion s life with a pot luck supper will be held on Friday, September 19th from 5-8 PM at the Groton Community Hall, 314 Scott Highway, Groton, VT.
