Obituary

North Haverhill, NH- Marion G. Knox, 101, formerly of Highland Street, Woodsville, NH, died March 25, 2010 at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH. She was born in Winthrop, ME, December 29, 1908, the daughter of John and Stella (Emery) Garland. Marion taught in Milan, NH for several years prior to moving to Woodsville. She was an elementary school teacher, having taught 3rd grade at the Woodsville Elementary School for many years. She attended the Wells River, VT Congregational Church. She enjoyed painting, crafts, stenciling, gardening, flowers and enjoyed her own home and homemaking. Marion married Clarence S. Knox on June 25, 1938 and he predeceased her on February 7, 1979, and she was also predeceased by a brother, Thomas Garland. Survivors include a son, John H. Knox and wife Beverly of Northfield, VT; and two grandsons, Paul and Christopher Knox; two great grandchildren, Caden and Hazel Knox; a brother Edmund Garland of Vinton, VA; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be on June 5, 2010, at 11:30 AM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grafton County Home Association, 3855 Dartmouth College Highway, North Haverhill, NH 03774.
