St. Johnsbury, VT Marjoire Ann Salomaa, 72, of St. Johnsbury, died on August 28, 2008 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center following a period of failing health. She was born in Haverhill, NH, on November 17, 1935, a daughter of George Oliver and Phyllis Willey. A lifelong Upper Valley resident, she had formerly resided in Newbury, East Corinth, and Groton, VT. For 23 years, she worked at the former Wanda s Nursing Home in Bradford as a certified nursing assistant, and retired in 1991 from McFarland House in Barre, VT. In her quiet time, Marjorie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing Scrabble and cards. She was predeceased by her husband Theodore I. Salomaa on September 6, 1997. Survivors include three daughters Kathy West of North Haverhill, Debra Carbee of Ryegate, and Rhonda LaLonde of North Haverhill, three sons Stuart Hood of New York State, Jeffery Hood of Manchester, NH, and Terrance of Vershire, VT; 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; two sister Betty Madden of Florida, and Nancy Bean of Saratoga Springs, NY; also two brothers John S. Oliver of Concord, VT, and George W. Oliver, II of Newbury, VT, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Saturday, September 6th, at 1 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with Pastor Candace Ricker officiating.
