Newbury, VT-  Marlene Priscilla Gilson, 84, of Snake Road, died following a period of failing health on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH.

Marlene was born in Deep River, CT on November 28, 1934, to Harry A. and Mary (Carwithen) Pearson.  She was a member of the first graduating class of Valley Regional High School in Deep River.  On April 21, 1962, she married Ralph I. Gilson.

Marlene worked as a typesetter for Fox Publishing in Bradford, VT and as a proofreader for Equity Publishing in Orford, NH.  She was the bookkeeper/secretary for Fadden Automotive in North Haverhill, NH.

As a member of the First Congregational Church of Newbury, she had been active in the women's fellowship and other church events.  She enjoyed bowling in Old Saybrook, CT and was active in TOPS in Newbury, Groton, and North Haverhill.  In her free time she enjoyed word puzzles, board games, and card games.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph I. Gilson on December 7, 2012; a grandson, Bruce Ruble on January 15, 2014; and by seven siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Gilson Gowac of Newbury; her son, Daniel J. Gilson and wife Barbara of North Pole, AK; and two grandchildren, Jillian Gowac of Las Vegas, NV and Erik Reeder of Jacksonville, FL.

Calling hours will be on Monday, April 29 ^th from 4-5:30 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH with a Memorial Service to begin at 5:30.

A private burial will be in the Oxbow Cemetery, Newbury.
