Newbury, VT Martha Helen Perkins, 87, formerly of Hall s Lake Road, died on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH. She was born in Newbury, VT, January 1, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Helen (Temple) Smith. Martha graduated from Newbury High School and attended Secretarial School in Concord, NH. She married Leon Edgar Perkins on June 11, 1944. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Newbury. Martha was predeceased by her husband, Leon E. Perkins on April 9, 1990; two sons, Leon C. Perkins and Ronald B. Perkins on January 27, 1968; a sister, Shirley Clews; and a brother, Charles Smith. Survivors include two daughters, Martha A. Smith and husband Ramon of Newbury, and Dorothy C. Drake of Thorton, NH; three sons, George W. Perkins and wife Nellie of Newbury, Charles L. Perkins of Warren, NH, and David E. Perkins and wife Virginia of Lincoln, NH; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Peg Hastings of Newbury and Marjorie Sage of Pensacola, FL; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, at 2 PM, at the First Congregational Church of Newbury, 4915 Main Street South, Newbury, VT with Rev. David Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Oxbow Cemetery, Newbury.
