Obituary

Haverhill, NH-  Mary Hutchins, 93, of Tannery Road, died at her home on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Mary was born in Haverhill, NH to Olin and Persis (Dearth) Brooks on April 7, 1928.  She attended school in Pike, NH.  On October 22, 1949, she married Harlan Kenneth Hutchins.

She helped Harlan with the business and enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren.

Mary was a member of the First Congregational Church of Haverhill, UCC,  a member of the East Haverhill Grange, a past member of  Home Dem, and along with Harlan, was active in the Connecticut Valley Snowmobile Association.  She was a charter member of VFW Auxiliary Post #5245 Auxiliary in North Haverhill, NH.

Mary was well known for her cooking and baking, especially of eclairs and divinity fudge.  She enjoyed dancing and attending the races at Bear Ridge and Thunder Road with Harlan.  She loved attending fairs.  At the North Haverhill Fair, she could always be found working in the French Fry shack for the VFW.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harlan K. Hutchins on August 15, 1997, 3 great grandchildren, Bryce Hutchins, Matthew Hutchins, and Kria Cushing; and her siblings, Austin Brooks, Douglas Brooks, Olin "Pat" Brooks, Jr., Persis Brooks Moses, Priscilla Brooks, and Frank "Toot" Brooks.

Mary's survivors include a daughter, Eleanor Cassady and husband Byron of Fairlee; a son, Roger P. Hutchins and wife Beth of Piermont, NH; five grandchildren, Jeannette Champagne and husband John Field, Kenneth Champagne and wife Crystal, Daniel Cassady and partner Elizabeth Vance, Joshua Hutchins and wife Jennifer, and Nicholas Hutchins and wife Megan; seventeen great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Adam Cushing and wife Emelia, Abigail DeVarney and husband Scott, and Andrew Cushing; a brother, Victor Brooks of Warren, NH; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside funeral service will be on Saturday, May 22, at 10 AM at Ladd Street Cemetery, Haverhill with Pastor Daniel Baker of the First Congregational Church of Haverhill, UCC, officiating.
