Obituary

North Haverhill, NH-  Matilda Claire "Tillie" Charpentier, 87, of Rock Creek Road, died on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, following a time of declining health.

Tillie was born in Attleboro, MA on October 12, 1933 to Zephirin and Olive (Monast) Marchand and was a graduate of Attleboro High School.  On October 3, 1953, she married David Charpentier.

Tillie was a long-time parishioner of St. Pius Catholic Church in Middletown, CT.  She was an active member of the Mother Circle Group for many years.  When she and David moved to New Hampshire, she became a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Woodsville, NH.

Over the years, Tillie worked in various gift shops doing retail sales.  She and her husband David also owned and operated the Charpentier's Bed and Breakfast in Lincoln, NH for eight years, from 1986 to 1994.  She delighted in fussing over her guests with her wonderful breakfast and afternoon snacks.  Tillie was an amazing cook.  She would even cook a special dinner for her guests after a long day of skiing or just offer a warm bowl of soup or a cup of hot cocoa.  She always paid close attention to details.

Tillie loved to entertain with family and friends.  It was one of her greatest joys in life.  Tillie dedicated her life to her family and always made welcome her friends and strangers with her warmth and kindness.  She was a loving and supportive wife and a devoted and doting mother to her children and a cherished friend to all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, David Charpentier on April 2, 2019:  two sons, Marc in 1966 and David in 1972; and her sister, Yvonne Paradise in 2020.

She is survived by their children, Lisa A. White and husband Lee of Barre, VT and Keith Charpentier of North Haverhill.
