Ryegate, VT – Maxine Helen (Hunt) Hoisington, 84 of Symes Pond Road, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at her home. She was born in McIndoe Falls, VT, January 2, 1929, a daughter of Chester and Ada (Bennett) Hunt. Maxine grew up in Ryegate and went to school in Ryegate, North Hartland, and graduated from Hartford High School, class of 1947. She married Freeman Moses Hoisington on June 19, 1947. During her working career she worked for the Norwich Inn, Norwich, VT, Camp Lochearn for Girls, Post Mills, VT, Camp Billings, Fairlee, VT, Dartmouth Skiway, Lyme, NH, and was the Postmistress for the Ely Post Office, Ely, VT. Maxine and Freeman lived in Post Mills for 27 years before moving back to her childhood home on Symes Pond Road in Ryegate. Maxine was a fifty plus year member of the Grange and currently is a member of the Blue Mountain Grange in Ryegate. She was a former member of the University Grange in Norwich, VT. She was also a member of the South Ryegate Women's Club, a former member of the Upper Valley Snowpackers of West Fairlee, VT, and the Connecticut Valley Swingers in Bradford, VT. She enjoyed countless hours with her husband square dancing. Maxine loved snowmobiling, camping, hunting, hornpouting, fishing, handwork, sewing, making teddy bears, and gardening. She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Fraser and husband Richard of South Ryegate, VT, Charlene Bourgeois and husband John of West Fairlee, VT, and Cheryl Braudis and husband Chris of Canaan, NH; two sons, Steven Hoisington of Ryegate, VT and Timothy Hoisington and Tina Wilcox of Canaan, NH; nine grandchildren, Christine, Jeffrey, Michael, Jason, Brian, Troy, Codi, Magan, and Tyler; nine great grandchildren, Kathryn, Nadia, Ian, Mary, Anastase, Mazie, Luke, Keegan, and Kailee; a sister, Janice Lightcap of White River Jct, VT; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 25, from 6 to 8 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A funeral service will be on Saturday, October 26, at 1 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. M. Catherine Cook from the South Ryegate Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Blue Mountain Cemetery in Ryegate, VT.
