Piermont, NH- Mildred H. Hartley, 88, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH. Mildred was born in Pike, NH, on January 27, 1920, to Harold and Lucy (Sawyer) Hill. She graduated from Haverhill Academy in 1938 and married Ernest D. Hartley on August 24, 1939. She was a member and served as an officer in the VFW Post #5245 Auxiliary in North Haverhill, NH, the Piermont Fire Department Auxiliary, the Watch em Pop s and the Haverhill Home Dem. Mildred was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Ernest, on April 11, 2007; a great granddaughter, Brittney Hartley; a sister, Gladys Emerson and a brother, Frederick M. Jones on February 1, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Diane Hartley Winot and husband Bill of Piermont; three sons, Ernest W. Hartley, Sr. of Lebanon, NH, Wendell F. Hartley, Sr. and wife June of Bradford, VT, and Ronald E. Hartley and social partner Hector Alvarado of Lima, Peru; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren; three sisters, Celia Ball of Warren, NH, Dorothy Verrill of Zephyrhills, FL, and Hazel Ames of Woodsville, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Mildred s life will be held on Monday, July 7, at 1 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with the Rev. Cynthia Batten officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery, Piermont, NH.
