Wells River, VT – Muriel "Josie" Josephine Sutton, 83, died on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH.

Muriel was born in Mansfield, MA, March 18, 1933, a daughter of Charles Ernest and Thelma Olive (Knowles) Boynton.

Muriel loved working in the garden and loved animals. She was a very genuine woman.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Raymond Sutton in 1972 and by her daughter, Wanda Jean Sutton in 1976.

Surviving family members include a life partner of 45 years, Joe Gougeon of Wells River; three children, Mark R. Sutton and wife Beverly of Corinth, VT, Timothy M. Sutton and wife Donna of North Haverhill, NH, and Gary J. Sutton and wife Christina of Port St. Lucie, FL; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Heffernan of Attleboro, MA, Marie West of MA, Alice Proulx of MA; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no public services observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of one's choice.
