Muriel Tyler
Norman
April 21, 1940 – June 13, 2018
Fairlee, VT- Muriel Tyler Norman, 78, passed away peacefully at Valley Terrace Assisted Living, Wilder, VT, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, after a period of declining health.
Muriel was born in Woodsville, NH, on April 21, 1940, the third child of Dana and Velma (Chase) Tyler. The family moved to Haverhill, NH, in 1946. Muriel was a graduate of Haverhill Academy, Class of 1958.
On February 5, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Norman. They were married for 57 years, prior to his death in November 2017. Richard and Muriel lived in Norwich, VT, for 31 years, before moving to Fairlee in 1998. Together, they raised three children.
Once her children were in school, Muriel went to work as a teller at Mascoma Savings Bank in Norwich. She retired from the bank in 1998, after working there for two decades. Muriel also worked alongside the rest of the family at the White River Drive-In Movie Theatre for many summers.
Muriel and Richard had nine beloved grandchildren. Nanny and Grampy went to as many of their school and sporting events as possible and took great joy in rooting them on in anything they did.
Muriel was a wonderful cook (she made the best chocolate chip cookies in the world!), and she loved to shop, sew, and garden.
Muriel was predeceased by her parents, her brother Richard Tyler, and her husband Richard.
She is survived by her three children, Lori Campbell and husband Tom of Portland, ME, and Terri Farnham and husband Larry of Fairlee; and Gregory Norman and wife
Margy of Mequon, WI; her grandchildren, Katie, Bethany, and Megan Campbell, Tyler, Shawn, and Ryan Farnham, and Ellie, Mimi, and Annie Norman; her sister, Doreen Tyler Ludman of Westford, MA; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Susan Norman and Carol Norman; her dear friend, Patty LeMay; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Muriel and Richard will be interred together at the Fairlee Cemetery on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 10 AM. Family and friends are welcome to join us there.
Muriel's family wishes to express appreciation for the loving care provided by the staff at Valley Terrace over the past six months, and to Bayada Hospice for the excellent care they provided to both Muriel and Richard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Vermont Chapter, 300 Cornerstone Drive, Williston, VT 05495 or Bayada Hospice, 316 Main Street, Norwich, VT 05055.
