Newbury, VT – Nancy Helen Hood, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1934, to Helen and Harry Chapman in Haverhill, NH.

Nancy attended school in Haverhill, NH. She married William (Bill) Hood on March 15, 1951. They bought a house on Moore Hill Road where they resided until moving into the village in 1966. They resided on Evergreen Drive for 58 years. Nancy recently moved to the Atkinson Residence in Newbury where she resided until her passing.

Nancy was a dedicated wife and stay at home mom, she and Bill raised three daughters, Joyce, Linda and Penny. Nancy babysat many children through the years and worked at the Grafton County Home for a short time. She was Bills caregiver until his passing in 2020.

She was a kind, considerate lady who liked to feed the birds, do puzzles, and crosswords. She loved visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed just sitting and looking out the window to watch the birds, traffic and people.

She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Harry Chapman, her husband Bill, her brother Frank Cross, and her sisters, Evelyn Bigelow and Greta Morris, and a daughter, Joyce Hood.

Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Linda Rafeal and her husband Mickey, and Penny Parker; her grandchildren, Sara Tetro, Jamie Rafeal, Amanda Deming and fiancé, Elvis Stuart, and Staci Hood and fiancé Joe Towne; her great grandchildren, Damien, Seth, Vivian, Hayden, Preston, Grayson and Clara; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Monday June 17, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Ricker Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Woodsville, 1 Birch St. Woodsville, NH. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday June 18, 2024 at 11 AM, at the New Oxbow Cemetery, Oxbow Rd, Newbury, VT.
