Monroe, NH- Nellie Carter Choate, 89, of Plains Road, died on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH. Nellie was born June 1925 in Monroe to Maurice and Pearl (Bort) Carter. She graduated from McIndoe Falls Academy. In 1943, she married David Worthen Choate. Along with her husband, David, she owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store in Woodsville, NH, retiring in 1988. They enjoyed camping and traveling. Nellie loved animals, especially her dogs and cats. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, David W. Choate, Sr. on October 23, 2010; a sister Norma I. Baker; and two brothers, Richard Carter and George Carter. She is survived by her children, Deane Moore and husband Don of Peacham, VT, David W. Choate, Jr. and wife Mary Saucier Choate of Monroe, and Carter Erwin Choate and partner Dan Wheeler of Standish, ME, Sharon O Connor of Concord, NH, Maurie Choate of Pahrump, NV; six grandchildren, Donald Moore, Jr. and wife Lisa of Peacham, Heather Hudson of Peacham, Heidi Moore of Waterford, VT, Lea Colleen O Connor, Amy Leigh O Connor, and William J. O Connor, Jr.; and five great grandchildren, Jennifer and Donald Moore, III, and Colton, Bailey and Pearl Hudson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1 PM in the Monroe Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of one s choice.
