St. Johnsbury, VT- Nora A. (Little) Slayton Wright, 97, formerly of Warren, NH, and most recently of Fenoff Circle in St. Johnsbury, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
Nora was born in McIndoe Falls, VT on September 10, 1918, to Murray and Bessie J. (Hunt) Little. She was a graduate of McIndoe Falls Academy.
She married Phillip R. Slayton in 1936 and he predeceased her on June 2, 1966. She later married Richard A. Wright on November 12, 1971 and he predeceased her on October 9, 2011.
Nora worked for a brief time for Equity Publishing in Orford, NH and for Ames Department Store. She also was the bookkeeper for her husband, Dick Wright, and his business, "Man of His Wood."
Nora enjoyed attending the McIndoes Academy reunions. She enjoyed dancing and traveling. She always wore a big, genuine smile and had a positive outlook on life.
Along with her two husbands, Nora was also predeceased by a son, James S. Slayton on May 29, 1987 and four siblings, Howard Little, Norman Little, Madeline Little and Shirley Skinner.
She is survived by four sons, Maurice W. Slayton and wife Kristy of West Granby, CT, Paul R. Slayton and wife Betsy of Enfield, CT, Richard A. Slayton and wife Carol of Nokomis, FL, and David R. Slayton and wife Cheryl of East Ryegate, VT; a daughter-in-law, Janice D. Slayton Guillemette and husband J. Pierre Guillemette of Woodsville, NH; a step-daughter, Patricia Maki of Wentworth, NH; a step-son, Tilden Wright of Bath, NH; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, August 13th from 4-6 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.
Private burial services will be in McIndoe Falls Cemetery.
