Pamela
Comi
February 16, 2024
Pamela Jean Comi (formerly Shoppe) 78, died peacefully on February 16, 2024, at the Frances Atkinson Residence for the Retired in Newbury, VT after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Pamela was born in Plainfield, NJ on January 19, 1946, to George and Dorothy (Roscoe) Shoppe. She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1964 where she was a football cheerleader and also excelled in art. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart Arthur James (Jim) Comi. They were married on March 26, 1966, and were married for 54 years until Jim's death on August 9, 2020.
Pam attended the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL where she studied commercial art. She worked as a commercial artist for several years and part-time for many years thereafter. She then became a homemaker to raise her two children Colin and Laura.
Pam enjoyed drawing, canoeing (fishing and catching turtles), crafting & quilting, playing tennis, horseback riding, refinishing furniture, Scrabble, crossword puzzles and most of all, word searches. She also loved to watch her favorite TV shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was an avid traveler enjoying trips to Africa, Costa Rica, the Amazon, England, Italy, the Caribbean, and Alaska. She enjoyed spending entire summers with her family at Halls Lake, Newbury, VT, and trips to her parent's cottage on Swartswood Lake, Stillwater Township, NJ. Pam and Jim spent time each winter at her lifelong favorite place The Gulf Beach Resort Motel on Lido Key, Sarasota, FL.
Pam is survived by her son Colin Comi and wife Keri of Colchester, VT, and daughter Laura and husband Dave Linabury of Haverhill, NH. Pam is also survived by 8 loving grandchildren (who affectionately called her "Grimcracker!"), Madison and husband Dylan Joiner, James Comi, Mackenzie Ozog, Sophia Comi, Dale Linabury, Mitchell Ozog, Ryan Linabury and Brody Silva. In addition, she is survived by sister-in-law Loretta Harper of Easton, PA, sister/brother-in-law Marie & Edmond Bangle of Sandpoint, ID, sister-in-law Nancy Comi of Berkeley Heights, NJ, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Halls Lake (Newbury, VT) in July. Details will be provided at a later date.
