Wells River, VT - Patricia Jean Engle, 78, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2015, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH surrounded by her family. Patricia was born in Haverhill, NH on February 27, 1937, to George D. and Priscilla (Hall) Roben. Patty graduated from Wells River High School, class of 1955. She worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph in Littleton, NH, where she met Charles "Chuck" Engle. They were married on November 2, 1958. Patty worked for the former Nancy Lee's in Wells River. Then, she worked with her husband Chuck at their business, W.E. Jock Oil Company, in Wells River, as a bookkeeper. Patty enjoyed going to Blue Mountain Union High School ball games. She also enjoyed doing handwork. Patty loved being with family and friends along with watching her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Chuck Engle of Wells River; two daughters, Susan Acheson and husband Rich of Fairlee, VT and Jennifer Fowler and husband Daniel of North Haverhill, NH; a son, Robert "Pudge" Engle and wife Jody of Wells River; four grandchildren, Heather Engle, Lesley Cannon, Taylor Acheson, and Ethan Fowler; four great grandchildren, Mia, Gavin, Finley, and Elle; and her special four legged friend, Gizmo. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 7, from 6 to 8 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A graveside service will be on Thursday, October 8, at 2 PM at the Wells River Cemetery, Wells River.
