Paul Tracy Williams, 92, of Newbury, VT passed on June 27, 2023, in his home that he built with family at his side, four days before his 93rd birthday. He celebrated his birthday with many family members on Father's Day with his favorite strawberry cream cake. He was a loving caring, and generous family man with a great sense of humor.
He was born on July 1, 1930, in Randolph, VT to Olive Tracy and Leonard Williams. He grew up on a small family farm in Randolph Center, VT. He graduated from Randolph High School and from Vermont Technical College with an Agricultural degree. After graduating from VTC he enlisted into the Air Force during the Korean War where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic. He met his future wife, Muriel Helen Fortin at Downer 4-H Camp in Sharon, VT. They were married on April 11, 1954. After being honorably discharged they returned to Vermont and purchased a farm in East Corinth in 1955 and started a family. Retiring in 1998, after 43 years as Postmaster of E. Corinth, Wells River and Bradford, VT Post Offices. He served as a 4-H Leader, Little League Coach, Volunteer Fireman for the E. Corinth Volunteer Fire Dept. Paul enjoyed square dancing with Muriel at the Connecticut Valley Swingers Club. He was an active member in the Wells River Congregational Church, as a choir member, trustee, and treasurer.
His hobbies were gardening and sugaring and managing his wood lot. He always had a huge garden that fed his large growing family who recall shucking bushel after bushel of peas.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Muriel, sister Mary A. Williams, brother Roger P. Williams, sister-in-law Alice Williams and son-in-law Gerry Suich.
He is survived by his five children: a son, Kenneth and his wife Michelina of Austin, Texas, his daughter Carol Williams-Suich of Wilder, VT, his son Brent and his wife Kathy of Newbury, VT, his daughter Beth and her husband Timothy White of Lebanon, NH, and his daughter Malinda and her husband Robert B. Taylor of Bradford, VT. His nine grandchildren; Kristin Williams (Rich Kenney), Gilliann Szucs (Mikki Hansen), Alina Miranda Smith (Shane), Casssandra Shortway (Jeffrey), Christopher P. Taylor (Robyn Sullivan), Kassia White, Nichole Williams, Garrett White, and Wiatt Suich (Marianna Tomanelli). He is survived by seven great grandchildren: Molly, Hadley, and Bentley Taylor, Mason Cassady, Connor Shortway, Lawson, and Sullivan Smith, 12 step grandchildren and 10 great step grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 niece and 5 nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Wells River Congregational Church, UCC, 76 Mains Street, Wells River, VT on Saturday July 29th, 2023, at 11:00 am with Pastor James Merriam officiating.
