Obituary

Barnet, VT – Paula Stevenson, 71, of Barnet, VT, passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Paula was born on July 9th, 1952, to Calvin "Kelly" Bogie St. and Audrey (Cassady) Bogie in St. Johnsbury, VT.  She attended McIndoe Academy until its closure in 1969. She completed her senior year and graduated from Peacham Academy in 1970.

Soon after graduating she married her love, Richard Stevenson in September of 1970. Together they had two children: Jacqueline and Shane.

Paula had many hobbies and talents she excelled at; gardening, sewing, making wedding cakes, and refinishing furniture, to name a few. There wasn't much she couldn't do. She always had a project she was working on. She boiled all the sap to make maple syrup for her whole life and was determined to do so even through her illness. Last year she made 1780 gallons.

Paula was an awesome cook. Many will remember her famous potato salad from Paula's Place, a general store that she created, opened, and operated in West Barnet. She was the hardest working woman. Above all, she cherished family time. Spending time at her camp on Harvey's Lake with friends and family, listening to her grandsons play the guitar, sugaring, or cooking and canning with her granddaughters.

Paula was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Richard of 53 years, her children, Jacqueline Gilmour (John), and Shane Stevenson (Christen Emerson). She is also survived by her four grandchildren that she loved dearly, Johnny Gilmour, Garrett Gilmour, Lucia Stevenson, and Lillian Stevenson; and brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

There will be no service at this time.
