Groton, VT- Pauline Mae Oliver, 74, of Powder Spring Road, died in the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center. She died peacefully with her family beside her on Valentine's Day, to be reunited with her husband, Harry.
Pauline was born on September 18, 1944 in Woodsville, NH to Paul and Beatrice (Darling) Emerson. She graduated from Bradford Academy, Class of 1962. On March 10, 1963 she married Harry A. Oliver.
For over 30 years, she was the pre-school teacher at the Central Vermont Head Start in Boltonville. She was also a volunteer driver for RCT for 10 years.
Pauline was a member of the Groton Methodist Women's Group and she worked on the Groton Fall Foliage Supper every year. She enjoyed camping, sugaring with Harry, cross-country skiing, reading, doing crossword and Soduko puzzles, and watching Westerns on TV. She loved attending her grandchildren's events and helping those in need.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry A. Oliver on October 24, 2002 and by three brothers, Ralph, Royce, and Kendall Emerson.
Survivors include her children, Brenda L. Nurse of Groton, Todd W. Oliver and wife Kim of Plainville, CT, Shelley R. Towle and husband David of Danville, VT, and Troy A. Oliver and wife Julie of Groton; her former son-in-law, Clyde Nurse of Brooklyn, NY; 10 grandchildren, Stefan, Alyssa, Steven, Nicholas, Kayla, Kathryn, Andrew, Benjamin, Logan, and Tynika; 3 great grandchildren, Cameron, Caysen, and Addisyn; a sister, Mary Grant of Groton; two brothers, David Emerson of Groton and Pete Emerson of Newbury; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service and celebration of life is being planned for later in the spring. Service information will be published at that time.
