Obituary

Groton, VT – Peter Carbee, 64, of Scott Highway passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from his rigorous battle with cancer, in the warm comfort of his own home.

Peter was born on April 29, 1958, in St. Johnsbury VT, he was joyously welcomed by his parents Elsie (Chase) and Leslie Carbee. He is an alumnus of Oxbow High School, class of 1977. He went on to have a steadfast job in the local granite business; he worked as a driller for Rock of Ages.

Peter met Linda and they chose to make a life together full of life and love. They settled in Groton and had three children, Karen, Christopher, and Biancca.

Hunting was a favorite past time for Peter. He enjoyed being in the woods on the hunt for deer, rabbit, and partridge, though when he felt like something a bit more laid back, he could also be found by the water fishing. In more recent years, a new addition to his list of things that made him happy was watching his grandson's race and play sports. He loved spending time with family during holidays and at family gatherings.  Any time of year was a good time to get away from the hum drum of regular life – and he did so by spending time at his camp or listening to southern rock from the 70's and 80's.

Peter was predeceased by his father, Leslie Carbee in 2017; and a brother, Victor Carbee who died in 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Karen Lakin and husband James of Groton, VT, Christopher Carbee and his wife Crystal of Ryegate, VT, and Biancca Carbee of Groton, VT; five grandchildren, Haley, Brian, Jared, Owen and Jalynn; one great grandchild, Brayden, and one more great grandchild due in January; his mother Elsie Mae Carbee, of Bradford, VT; two brothers, Tim Chase of Florida, William Carbee and wife Debbie of North Haverhill, NH; three sisters, Kim Darby and husband Roy of St. Johnsbury, VT, Cynthia Carbee of Barre, VT, and Marsh Trischman and husband Keith of Bradford, VT; mother-in-law, Gwen Claflin of Ryegate, VT; three brothers-in-law, Karl Smith of Woodsville, NH, Richard Smith and his wife Sherri of Hartland, TX, and Robert Smith and his wife Lisa of Waits River, VT; a sister-in-law, Lois Testut and her husband Mike of Island Pond, VT, his beloved feline friend Tigger; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
