Newbury, VT-  Phyllis Mae Davis, 81, of Montebello Hills Apartments, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 30, 2017, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH.

Phyllis was born on November 6, 1935, in West Patterson, NJ, to Milo Asa and Josephine (Arms) Detweiler.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services.  She worked as a nurses aide and LPN at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, St. Johnsbury, VT,  prior to being a Social Worker at both NVRH and Cottage Hospital.

On February 13, 1960, Phyllis married Joseph Arthur Davis.

In 1976, Phyllis and Joseph moved to Groton from Bloomingdale, NJ.  For many years, she served as a volunteer at Cottage Hospital.  She attended the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in North Haverhill.  Her favorite holiday was Halloween.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Davis on May 7, 2009.  She was also predeceased by her nine siblings.

She is survived by a daughter, Christle D. Brooks and husband Barry of Groton, VT; two sons, Todd R. Davis and partner Ken Warden of Barre, VT and Jay A. Davis and wife Renee` of Monroe, LA; three grandchildren, Stephanie McLeary and husband Andy, Sera Brooks and Kurtis Brooks; several nieces, nephews, and cousins including a special niece, Cathy Stone and husband Harley.

A memorial gathering will be on Saturday, November 18, at 10 AM, at the Montebello Hill Apartments, 4621 Main Street, Newbury, with Rev. George Hemway officiating.
