Obituary

Orford, NH- Phyllis Louise Taylor, 92, of Indian Pond Road and formerly of Peacham, VT, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was born on November 30, 1922, in Haverhill, NH, a daughter of Byron and Nellie (Vancour) Roystan. She married Elmer Lloyd Taylor on April 10, 1943. They lived on the family farm in Peacham until 1966 when they moved to the farm in Orford. She was a homemaker doing multiple jobs while raising their fourteen children including gardening, canning, sewing, berry picking, quilting, making root beer, and fixing puzzles. She made donuts for the Orford Flea Market. While living in Orford, Phyllis did housecleaning. She enjoyed her Sunday rides with the family, sitting in her easy chair watching the birds and keeping a watchful eye on any activity happening outside her kitchen window. Her favorite TV show was Across the Fence and she loved ordering recipes from them. Her focus in life was all about her family, including annual family reunions. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Elmer Taylor; her parents, Byron and Nellie Roystan; her sisters, Mary, Della, Nellie and Marion; and her brothers, James, Burt, and Byron Jr. (Joe). She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Garrett of Lisbon, NH, Muriel Marsh of Orford, Susan Pike and husband Joe of Fairlee, VT, Grita Taylor and Mike Poole of Pike, NH, Linda Gordon and husband Jeff of Orford, and Marie Manning and husband David of Swanton, VT; her sons, Elmer Taylor, Jr. and Joyce Brown of Mansfield, CT, Bruce Taylor, Ronald Taylor and wife Mary, Harold Taylor and wife Theresa, Larry Taylor and wife Susan, Walter Taylor and wife Gloria, all of Orford, Homer Taylor and Jane Santaw of Pike, Dennis Taylor and wife Dawn of Newbury, VT; 28 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; her sisters, Louise Sanborn of Coventry, CT, Emma Bean of Peacham, and Arlene Stuart of Monroe, NH; and many nieces and nephews. At Phyllis request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 2 PM at the Orford Street Cemetery, Orford, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Centralized Memorial Processing Center, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
