Landaff, NH- Preston Leonard Chase, Sr., 73, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his home. Preston was born in Haverhill, NH, April 30, 1941, the son of Homer and Dorothy (Prescott) Chase. He married Mary Robinson on November 1, 1963. In his early years, Preston worked in Branford, CT. Then he worked for Bath Fiber in Bath, NH and New England Wire in Lisbon, NH. He was a foreman of Henschel Manufacturing in Littleton, NH, returning to New England Wire until his retirement on June 6, 2014. Preston was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, truck pulling, and putting up his own firewood with his brother, Bruce. He enjoyed maple sugaring with all his family. He valued the time spent with his family and attending his grandchildren s sporting events. He was a Boston sports fan. Preston was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend or stranger. He loved telling jokes and joking around with everyone, especially his grandchildren. Preston will be missed by his companion and faithful four legged friend Amber. He was predeceased by his parents, Homer and Dorothy Chase. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Chase of Landaff; their son, Preston L. Chase, Jr. and wife Karla of Landaff; three grandchildren, Brandon and companion Nicole, Dylan and companion Kirsten, and Kylie; a great grandson, Caleb; three sisters, Carol Ash of Littleton, Barbara Locke of Lisbon, Nancy Young and husband Wendell of Bethlehem, NH; two brothers, Bruce Chase of Bath and Scott Chase and wife Cathy of Landaff; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Monday, October 6 from 6-8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 7 at 11 AM at Ricker Funeral Home with Rev. Lyn Winter officiating. Burial will follow in the Landaff Center Cemetery, Landaff.
