Obituary

Monroe, NH – Robert Michael "Doc" Belyea, 67, of Harley View Drive, died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at home, with his family by his side.

Doc was born in Haverhill, NH, June 9, 1951, son of Robert L. and Thelma M. (Edwards) Belyea.  He was a 1969 graduate of Woodsville High School, and married Jean A. Bigelow on July 17, 1971.

Doc worked for 9 years building homes in the area for Bob Powers Builders.  He then worked for 34 years for New England Power at the Comerford Dam in Monroe as an electrician and working foreman.

He was a member of the Woodsville United Methodist Church, Monroe Men's Club, St. Johnsbury Elks Club, and Sons of the American Legion Ross-Wood Post # 20 of Woodsville.  Doc was a Little League coach in Monroe and as an avid sports fan, he cheered for the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins.  Most importantly, he loved visits to his daughter's home in Vermont and attending his grandson's hockey and baseball games, both at home and away.  He enjoyed gardening, skiing, hunting, playing cribbage, reading, taking trips, and most of all riding his Harley with Jean, especially in the Western US on visits to his son's in Colorado.  Doc cherished time spent with family and friends and was always there to lend a helping hand.

Surviving family includes his wife of 46 years, Jean of Monroe, and their children, Jennifer J. McGovern and husband Jim E. and their son Nicholas J. of Essex Jct., VT and Chad M. Belyea and wife Alondra of Crested Butte, CO.  He is also survived by his mother, Thelma Belyea of Woodsville; his siblings, Kathy A. Hatch of Woodsville, Peter B. Belyea and wife Wanda of Piermont, NH, James E. Belyea and wife Theresa, and David L. Belyea and wife Juanita, both of Bath, NH; numerous special nieces, nephews, an aunt, an uncle; as well as his FC's and his FCC's.  He is also survived by his mother in law, Alice Bigelow of North Haverhill, and brothers in law, Russell Bigelow and Marie of Haverhill and Barry Bigelow of North Haverhill.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert L. Belyea on January 18, 2015.

There will be no calling hours.

A celebration of Doc's life will be on Friday, July 6th, at 2 PM at the Monroe Town Hall, 50 Main Street, Monroe, NH, with Pastor Clint Brake of the Woodsville United Methodist Church officiating.  The celebration will continue following the ceremony with an open house gathering at the Town Hall.  All are invited to attend.

A private burial will be observed in the Monroe Village Cemetery.
