Obituary

Ralph Waldo Emerson Jr. 86, passed away peacefully in his home on February 28th, 2025.  He was born in Woodsville, NH to Ralph "Waldo" and Alice (Meyette) Emerson of Newbury, VT on February 7th, 1939.  He married Sharon (Downing) on May 7th, 1966, they were married for 58 years and had 3 children – Albert, Carol and Thelma.
Ralph possessed a natural ability and passion for working as a mechanic.  He was employed at H.O. Taylor Chevrolet in Wells River, VT as Service Tech and Shop Manager for 30 years before starting his own business in the early 80's.  He owned and operated Ralph's Transmission until he retired.
He enjoyed playing musical instruments all his life, with fond memories of his family's band when he was younger. Ralph loved hunting, fishing, and berry picking with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed going to their sporting events.  One of Ralph's favorite activities was spending time with his grandson Corey Jr. working on the doodlebug.
Ralph enjoyed his time at Bear Ridge Speedway with his cousin Donald working on his race car.  He later became the Tech Man for the speedway for a few years and was inducted into the Bear Ridge Speedway Hall of Fame in 2021.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents and his sister Dorothy Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; his three children, Albert Emerson and wife Susan of Topsham Vermont, Carol Emerson and wife Joan of Vero Beach Florida, Thelma Kingsbury and husband Corey of Cave City Kentucky; his 8 grandchildren, Carrie (Emerson) DeLaBruere and husband Ryan, Dana (Emerson) Boudreau and husband Chris, Duncan Emerson, Hannah Emerson, Michael Emerson, Corey Kingsbury Jr., Trevor Kingsbury, Devon Kingsbury and fiancé Emily; and 6 great grandchildren, Nikolas Garrison, Scotty and James DeLaBruere, Oliver Emerson, Weston Kingsbury and Theodora Kingsbury.
He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Emerson, John "Henry" Emerson, Barbara Miller, Joan Hayward, George Emerson, Frederick Emerson and Ruth Demick as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Ralph's Life on June 7, 2025, at 1PM at Albert's home, 114 Welch Rd. Topsham, VT
