Obituary

Topsham, VT- Raymond "Boz" Decorie, Jr., 84, of Lime Kiln Road, died unexpectedly at his home on December 11, 2015. Boz was born in Wilbraham, MA, on June 27, 1931, to Raymond and Marie (Fortin) Decorie, Sr. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. His unit received a Presidential Unit Citation (ROK), and he was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with one bronze service star, the United Nations service medal, and the National Defense service medal. Following his time in the Army, Boz was employed by Monsanto Plastics and worked digging graves while living in Massachusetts. Later he did masonry work and cut firewood before working at Bradford Veneer and Panel for many years, retiring in 1996. In the late 1960s, Boz lived on Wright's Mountain in Bradford prior to moving to Topsham in 1975. He loved fishing, particularly deep sea fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, berry picking, and gardening. He was predeceased by a brother David Decorie, a sister in law, Lydia Decorie, and a nephew, Ricky Ricardi. He is survived by his companion of 41 years, Mavis (Hart) Bruleigh of Topsham; three step children, Bruce Bruleigh and partner Bobbie Jo Dyer, Diane Evans and husband Leonard, and Alson Bruleigh, all of Topsham; eight grandchildren, Leonard Evans, Jr., Amanda Evans, Amelia Evans, Brandon Dyer, Hunter Bruleigh, Ambera Evans, Cheyenne Dyer, and Luther Evans; two great grandchildren, Landen Strople and Nicholas Shaffer-Evans; a sister, Shirley Ricardi and husband Alfred of Springfield, MA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Boz's prior request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Friday, December 18 at 1 PM at the Groton United Methodist Church with Rev. Candace Ricker, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Village Fire Department, East Topsham, VT 05076.
