Obituary

North Haverhill, NH- Raymond Max Thayer, 72, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Raymond was born in Haverhill, NH on August 12, 1945, to Orman "Red" Mann and Isabelle R. (Moulton) Thayer, Sr.

He was a graduate of Haverhill Academy. Raymond was known in the area for being a cattle dealer under the name "RT Cattle".  He hauled sawdust for local farms.  For the past 20 years Raymond has traveled to Lancaster County, PA and would return to New Hampshire with a trailer load of sheds and local Amish goods.  Raymond was the arena announcer at local horse pulling events in Bradford, North Haverhill, Lancaster, and Danville, to name a few.  He was an auctioneer in the area, assisting with civic and church groups as well as the local fire department.  Raymond was a former member of the North Haverhill Fire Department.  He enjoyed spring flower planting and his outdoor Christmas lights and decorations.  One of Raymond's favorite sayings, when told to have a good day, would be to respond with "I have a good day everyday".

He was predeceased by his father, Orman "Red" Thayer on October 30, 2006 and his mother, Isabelle Thayer on August 15, 2013; a brother, Orman M. Thayer, Jr. on December 6, 2010; and an uncle, Irving "Irk" W. Thayer on November 15, 2014.

He is survived by a daughter, Megan Thayer of Haverhill, NH; a son, Troy Thayer and companion Sarah Truckle of Montpelier, VT; his companion of 15 years, Cyrena Gadwah of North Haverhill and her daughter Bobbi Norcross and husband Larry of North Haverhill; six grandchildren, Dayton Burns, Amaya Rogers, Eliza Thayer, Carson Norton, Owen Thayer, and Colin Thayer; his brothers, Wayne F. Thayer of Dover, NH and Howard L. Thayer and companion Annie Boutin of North Haverhill; an aunt, Dot Moulton of North Haverhill; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, January 21st, from 1 to 3 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.

A funeral service will be on Monday, January 22nd, at 11 AM at Ricker Funeral Home with Melissa Gould serving as Funeral Celebrant.

Burial in the spring will be held at the convenience of the family at the Center Haverhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support the  Grafton County 4-H Catlle Program.  Donation may be sent to the Grafton County 4-H Leaders Association, 1930's Nursing Home Building 1st Floor, 3855 Dartmouth College Highway, Box 5, North Haverhill, NH 03774.
