Reginald "Reg"
W. Bixby
May 22, 2022
Warren, NH- Reginald W. Bixby "Reg", 87, passed away with family by his side on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Concord Hospital.
Reginald was born at home on December 18, 1934, to Vernon J. and Gertrude M. (Walls) Bixby in Wentworth, NH. He attended Brockton Trade School to study carpentry and building.
Following high school, he worked with Frank Titus, building at Camp Walt Whitman. He then was drafted into the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. He was active duty and stationed in Germany. After coming home, he remained inactive for two years.
He married the love of his life, Jeanette Haines, on November 2, 1957. Together they spent 64 years building their lives together, making their house a home and enjoying their family they created.,
Over the years, Reg coached the local little leagues and Babe Ruth baseball teams. He also helped with Boy Scouts. He was instrumental in getting the Warren Planning Board organized. He also helped organize the Asquamchumaukee Valley Snowmobile Club and joined the NH Snowmobile Association. He would volunteer his time to the Warren Village School winter carnival for many years. Reg was a PROUD member of the New Hampshire Timberland Association and was a former member of the Plymouth Elks Club. In his free time, he was a part of the men's softball team for Warren.
A big part of the little town of Warren is the Redstone Missile that stands on the Warren Common. Reginald assisted getting that transported and unloaded in the spot you see it in today.
He was also well known for lending a helping hand to pull a few people out of the snowbanks on Route 25 C over the years.
Working was something Reginald took pride in. He worked for K.E. Whitcher Sawmill, then went independent, hauling logs and logging with his own equipment. He owned and operated L&R Bixby Crushing and owned gravel pits for material. He has one of the first hydraulic Prentice Log Loaders in our area. He retired, but always kept busy with his hands and mind, whether it was helping family, friends, or neighbors.
Reg loved the smell of sawdust, a good pine tree, watching the birds, a freshly sharpened chainsaw, working in his vegetable garden, fattening up the local turkeys, and spending time with his family. He would spend countless hours cutting and splitting wood for his wood stove. He and Jeanette would travel to Florida for the winter season in their motorhome and he would enjoy playing golf while there.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon, and Gertrude Bixby; two brothers, Arthur, and Willard Bixby; a sister Grace Bixby; and a grandson Mark.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette (Haines) Bixby of Warren; a son, Lloyd Bixby and wife Laurie of Warren; two daughters, Suzenne Flagg and husband Bryan of Warren, and Debra Bixby of Rye, NH; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and lots of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
