Richard M. Roy, 80, of Woodsville, NH passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the comfort of his home. His parents, Elie O. and Germaine (Lamarre) Roy welcomed him into this world on February 5, 1943, in Bath, NH.

He spent his childhood in Bath, NH keeping his parents busy alongside his sixteen siblings. He graduated from Woodsville High School in 1961. He joined the army in 1964. He went on to receive his associate degree from NH Vocational Technical College.

On June 27, 1970, Richard married Sandra (Pratt) Roy. They had three daughters together and continued living their best lives in the Woodsville are. Richard owned and operated Royal Electric with two of his brothers.

Richard enjoyed working on the land. Growing up he enjoyed farming. As an adult, he enjoyed working outdoors with his brothers and nephews.

He loved people. Chatting with old friends, reminiscing with family, and he was skilled at making new friends, telling jokes and stories of the old days; he was a very sociable person.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed learning via reading, he was particularly interested in books pertaining to the Civil War and Russian history. He was passionate about his family history and collecting old stories and photos. He liked to visit Quebec where his family originates from. Richard valued learning as much as he appreciated the value of hard work.

He has been predeceased by his parents, Elie and Germaine Roy; his sisters, Rita Lackie, Louise Fornier, Irene Guilmette, Anne-Marie Dauphinais; and his brothers, Martin Roy, Fernand Roy, Paul Roy, Victor Roy, Patrick Roy, Ernest Roy, Norman Roy, Roger Roy and nephew, Peter Roy.

Richard will be remembered by his wife, Sandra Roy; their three daughters, Karen McNamara and husband Bill, Jody Roy, and Jennifer Walsh and husband Brad; his two adored grandsons, Griffin and Harrison; his siblings, Bernard Roy and wife Betty Ann, Camille Roy, Philip Roy and wife Patricia, and Clement Roy; his in-laws, Mary Jane Roy, Jean Roy, Joyce Roy, Louise Roy and Euguene Dauphinais; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A wake will be held at Ricker Funeral Home & Cremation Care on Thursday, September 7th from 6 – 8 PM, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Friday September 8th at 10:30 AM with a committal to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
