Robert James
Brock
February 19, 2024
Robert James Brock, 84, peacefully passed away into eternal life on February 19, 2024. He was born on February 4, 1940, in Groton, VT, and spent his youth in and around Barnet enjoying the company of his many childhood classmates.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Mary (Main) and Leonard Jackson Brock and his first wife Carolyn Jane (Moore) whom he was married to for 45 years. Bob is survived by his brothers Alan and sister-in-law Susan Brock, Tom and sister-in-law Nancy Brock, and new found brother Flynn Trimnal. He is also survived by his wife BettyAnn (Abild) of Brevard, NC, son James Robert Brock of Colorado, and daughters Jacqueline Hodge of Maine and Dianne Brock of Wells River, VT. He is survived by his grandsons William Brock, Christian Brock and wife Jocelyn, Matthew Brock and Michael Hodge as well as granddaughters Kaysie and husband Stephen Smith, Jaymie Batchelder and Mikayla Hodge and one new great grand baby Clara Marie Smith.
He loved all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He loved and honored Carolyn and became her caretaker during her challenging years with ALS. He always remained close to his family and wanted the very best for them.
Bob worked at the Thomas Pharmacy from the age of 15 till his retirement. He displayed compassion as a pharmacist while serving those who came for their medications. He listened to their plights and even drove to their homes when they were unable to come to Wells River. He saw the good in everyone. He was so kind and considerate of other's unique personalities and needs. He saw their potential amongst their hardships and suffering.
He enjoyed hunting not only to provide food for his family but for the natural habitat surrounding him. He had a good time fishing with his buddies in the many local lakes, most particularly Harvey's Lake and Lake Champlain.
Bob, a true Vermonter, opened his horizons to new possibilities when he married BettyAnn and moved to NC where she had a home. He went on vacations to Maine during the summer and Florida during the winter. He also enjoyed many excursions in the South while taking in the natural beauty of the landscape.
Bob spent his last two weeks with BettyAnn dining, dancing, and sharing good conversations with close friends in Florida. One night, he became ill and peacefully passed on three days later. He truly was a gentle man who found inner peace living a faith-filled life with joy and compassion for others. He will be greatly missed by those who love him for his calming presence in this earthly world.
Burial will be a graveside service at the Wells River Cemetery during Vermont's fall foliage season. Donations may be made in his honor to your favorite charity.
