Obituary

Pelham, NC Robert P. Davison, 81, a former Woodsville, NH and Newbury, VT resident, died May 11, 2009, at the Rockingham County Hospice Facility, Wentworth, NC, after a brief illness. He was born on August 19, 1927, in Bow, NH the son of Perry L. and Mabel (Caverly) Eaton, Sr. He was adopted by Harold K. and Gladys M. (Batchelder) Davison of Woodsville, NH on December 14, 1932, following the death of his mother and father. He attended schools in Woodsville and St. Johnsbury, VT and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific, China and French Indochina, during World War II, aboard the USS Mellena, and in the Atlantic aboard the USS Merrick. He earned the China Service Medal (Extended), American Campaign Medal, Asiatic and Pacific Campaign Medals, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia Clasp), and the Philippines Liberation Medal. Bob was a former Concord, NH Police Officer and was a Special Deputy Sheriff for the Marion County, FL Sheriffs Department, and rode with the Marion County Sheriffs Posse Mounted Drill Team. He enjoyed spending time with his children, working with his quarter horses, hunting, fishing, boating, and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife Ruby (Applebee) Davison of Pelham, NC, six children, Steve Davison and wife Ki of Glendale, CA, Glenda Jones and husband Jim of Citra, FL, Terry Bowles and husband David of Loudon, NH, Patti Frost and husband David of Pelham, NC, Robert Davison and wife Rose of Buena Vista, VA, and Jamie Clause and husband Scott of Eagle Rock, VA, eleven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a brother James Eaton and wife Sally of Clarksville, NH, two nieces and two nephews. Bob was predeceased by a son James Harold Davison, by both of his parents and his adoptive parents, a brother Perry L. Eaton, Jr., and a half brother, Leonard Palmer. A funeral service will be on Monday, May 18th , at 3 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. Family and friends may call from 2 PM until the time of the service at 3 PM on Monday. Pastor Geoff Bretches will officiate. Burial will follow in Ladd Street Cemetery, Haverhill, NH.
