Obituary

Woodsville, NH - Robert Francis Miller, Jr, 61, died Thursday, August 27, 2015, at his home following a brief illness. Bob was born in Woodsville, on September 24, 1953, the son of Robert Francis and Irene (Beaton) Miller, Sr. He attended local schools and graduated from Woodsville High School in 1971. As a student, he was active in high school at Woodsville, and was a member of championship basketball and baseball teams under Coach John Bagonzi. Following his graduation from UNH in 1975, he returned home and continued to stay active in town team basketball and softball. Enjoying high school sports, Bob spent several years broadcasting high school basketball games for WYKR and along with his broadcast buddy, Glen Hatch, they became known as the "Barnburner Boys". Bob was always active in the community and served as Treasurer for the Town of Haverhill for over 38 years. He served as a bail commissioner and as a Water and Light Commissioner for Woodsville Fire District. He was a member of the Cohase Lions Club and directed the Lions Basketball Tournament for several years. Since March 14, 1977, Bob worked for the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank, initially as the bank treasurer and most recently as Vice President of Information Technology. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert F. and Irene Miller, Sr. Surviving family members include his wife, Carol (Jerry) Miller, to whom he was married on June 11, 1977, of Woodsville; two children, Bryan R. Miller of Littleton, NH, and Stacey A. Miller and boyfriend Brian Ferazzi of Plymouth, MA; a sister, Susan Davison of Walpole, MA; a brother, John "Jack" Beaton of Palm City, FL; and a niece, Kimberly McAuley and husband Sean and their children Padraig, Grace, and Kellan. There will be no calling hours. A reception will be held at the Happy Hour Restaurant, Main Street, Wells River, VT, on Saturday, September 5, from 1-3 PM with a time of remembrance from 2:15 until 3. There will be a private burial in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville, at the convenience of Bob's family.
