Obituary

Groton, VT – Robert George Nuttle, 91 went home to be with His Lord and Savior unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Bob was born in Collingdale, PA, on October 1, 1925, the son of Robert M. and Frieda (Koenig) Nuttle. Bob graduated from Collingdale High School where he was a star football player. He was a summer lifeguard at the local pool. Bob served in the U.S. Navy in Hawaii after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was the coveted electrician in a torpedo shop. Upon discharge, Bob married the love of his life, Bettie June Chesnutt, on April 24, 1948. They were married 57 years. His career was with Bell Telephone where he worked as a cable splicer, repairman, and equipment installer until his retirement in 1985. Bob was an avid gardener and salt water fisherman. In his later years he thoroughly enjoyed playing golf. A long-time member of Aldan Union Church, Bob served as a Trustee on the church board, and went on several missions trips assisting in the maintenance and repair of churches and camps. He and his wife were members of SOWERs (Servants On Wheels Ever Ready) and traveled in their RV to do similar work during Bob's retirement  years. In late September of 2015, Bob moved to Vermont to live with his daughter and her family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bettie, on December 31, 2005.

He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Walton and her husband Dennis of Groton; two sons, Robert Steven Nuttle and wife Yvonne of Secane, PA and Kenneth George Nuttle and wife Beverly of Williamsport, PA; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no services observed locally. A memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania.
