Newbury, VT- Robert Gordon Page, 76, of Moore Hill Road, died at his home on Monday, March 31, 2014.
Robert was born in February 10, 1938, in Chelmsford, MA, to Earle G. and Mildred L. (Purcell) Page. He was a graduate of Newbury High School. On August 16, 1958, he married Sylvia G. Lampro.
Robert worked for various mills in the Chelmsford and Manchester, NH area, then worked as a truck driver for over twenty years for Bradford Oil. Later, he worked in the maintenance department at Oxbow High School along with driving school bus for the District.
He helped establish the Newbury Border Riders Snowmobile Club. He was passionate about hunting and being in the woods as well as putting up firewood. As his health declined, Robert enjoyed reading and watching countless Red Sox games. Sunday family gatherings included pitching horseshoes, playing softball and baseball games. He also liked gardening and helping others hay.
Robert was predeceased by two brothers, Richard L. and Ronald E. Page.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sylvia (Lampro) Page; four daughters, Diana Page and companion Charles of Norwich, VT, Debra McInnis and husband Francis of Stow, ME, Denise Chamberlin and companion Bruce of Orange, VA, and Darlene Gustafson and husband Gary of Ridgefield, CT; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours will be on Friday, April 4 th from 6-8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A memorial service will follow the calling time at 8 PM, with Rev. Cynthia Batten of the West Newbury Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Oxbow Cemetery, Newbury, in the spring.
