Peacham, VT Robert C. Petrie, 51, of Macks Mt. Road, died Monday, August 31, 2009, from injuries in a motorcycle accident in Westmore, VT. Robert was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on June 23, 1958, the son of Albert and Marilyn (Hagen) Petrie. He was a graduate of Danville High School, Class of 1976. Rob worked for 29 years at Weidmann Electrical Technologies in St. Johnsbury. While working at Weidmann, he worked as a multi-skilled technician for the business and worked different shifts when needed. Rob was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, animals, and wildlife. He had enjoyed weightlifting and golfing. He was a very thoughtful and generous man who liked giving his time and energy to others. Robert s family encompassed a large circle of very close friends in addition to his immediate family. His time spent with each one was golden. Motorcycling was an important passion in his life. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group and the Iron Warriors power lifting group in Lyndonville, VT. For several years he participated in the Toys for Tots motorcycle run. Rob also liked to tell stories and jokes with his dry sense of humor. He was predeceased by his father, Albert Petrie Sr. on October 6, 1991, and his father in law Oscar Larose. Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Petrie of Peacham, VT; his wife, Sylvia (Larose) Petrie of West Burke, VT; five siblings, Carol McMullen and husband Clifford of Middleton, NH, Albert Petrie, Jr. of Peacham, VT, Sandra Greenwood and husband Richard of East Peacham, VT, Sharon Mudge and George of Citrus Springs, FL, and Lori Taylor and husband Robert of Cutchogue, NY; two step sons, Allen Fisher and Oliver Fisher both of West Burke, VT; three step grandchildren, Ryley Fisher, Jordan Fisher, and Blake Fisher; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; his mother-in-law Madeleine Larose of West Burke, and his dear friends, Pete and Angela Williamson and their children, Jacob and Jackie. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 4, from 6 to 8 PM, at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A funeral service will be on Saturday, September 5, at 2 PM, at The First Baptist Church of Groton, 1115 Scott Memorial Highway, Groton, VT, with Pastor Dennis Walton officiating. Burial will be in the Peacham Village Cemetery following the service.
