July 2, 1952 – April 2, 2017
Benton, NH- Robert Joseph "Bob" Poirier, 64, of Bradley Hill Road, died on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born in Gardner, MA, on July 2, 1952, to Joseph and Anita (LeBlanc) Poirier.
Bob was a longtime resident of Bath, NH, having moved there from Andover, MA, at the age of 12. Bob was best known from the Colonial Inn which was owned by his parents. Joe (AKA "Colonial Joe") and Anita ran a popular restaurant known for its pizzas, Joe's homemade bread, delicious subs, and Anita's spaghetti sauce.
For many years, Bob worked for Newman Lumber. Prior to that, he was employed as a carpenter for Stan Brinker.
Bob loved hunting, fishing, and riding on back roads looking for deer. When walking in the woods, he was always on the lookout for shed antlers and had a large collection of them, leading to his nickname, "Antler Bob."
Bob was predeceased by his father, Joe Poirier on April 2, 1996.
He is survived by his son, Jason Poirier of Benton; his mother, Anita Poirier of Salem, NH; three sisters, Joanne Gardner of Templeton, MA, Carol Aufiero of Salem, NH, Barbara Carr of Londonderry, NH; a brother, Bill Poirier of Needham, MA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At Bob's request there will be no public services.
Bob's family would like to offer many thanks to Jennifer Ellsworth of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and to all the doctors and nurses who cared for him.
