Whitefield, NH Robert D. Ross, 85, formerly of Woodsville, NH, died on Monday, January 26, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, NH. He was born in Berlin, NH, September 10, 1923, the son of Charles Roderick and Mary Beatrice (Enman) Ross. He graduated from Berlin High School, Class of 1941. Bob enlisted in the Army / Air Corps in 1943 and received his honorable discharge in 1946. He worked for 32 years as a salesman for Armour Meat Company. Bob moved to Woodsville in the 1950 s from Berlin to be closer to his work. Following his retirement from Armour, he worked for several years at Scrugg s Hardware in Woodsville. He married Jeanette L. Grenier in October 1979. Bob was a member of the Ross-Wood American Legion Post #20, Woodsville and a member of the First Baptist Church, Groton, VT. In 2006 Bob moved to Whitefield. He was predeceased by his wife of 18 years, Jeanette L. Ross on March 10, 1997 and a brother Charles Elden Ross. Survivors include his step daughter, Fonda Beard of Lincoln, NH; 2 step grandchildren; Nichola Somers and Timothy Tewksbury, 4 step great grandchildren Barrie Jr. and Austin Long, Jasmine and Cayden Tewksbury, and 3 nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Saturday, January 31, at 1 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with Pastor Dennis Walton from the First Baptist Church, Groton, VT officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville in the spring.
