Obituary

East Ryegate, VT Robert Anthony Warner, 72, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH. He was born in Newport, RI, August 5, 1937, the son of John E. and Arline (Anthony) Warner. Bob graduated from Rogers High School in Newport, then attended the Rhode Island School of Design where he graduated as a draftsman, working in Rhode Island, California, Arizona, and Vermont. Upon moving to Ryegate in 1962, he worked as a dairy farmer and retired from this profession. Bob will be remembered maintaining the grounds of Warner s Campground and bartending at Phil s Drive-In. Bob had a passion for sailing and being on the ocean. He loved fishing, reading, music, dogs, and good ice cream. He was a past board member of the Area Agency on Aging for Northeastern Vermont in St. Johnsbury, VT. He was predeceased by his parents, John E. and Arline (Anthony) Warner; and a brother, John Peter Warner. Survivors include four daughters, Shellie Samuels and husband Derrick, Sr. of Barnet, VT, Jessie Davidson and husband Michael of Barnet, Tracy Warner and fianc Willis Buddy Hall of East Ryegate, and Bobbi Warner Somers and husband Brian of Barnet; grandchildren, Derrick Samuels, Jr. and wife Rebekah and their children, Derrick III and Shanice, Theodore Samuels, Courtney Samuels, Travis Samuels, Logan Samuels, Andrew Davidson and wife Michelle, Riley Davidson and friend Matt Rutchick, Patrick Long, Anthony Whitcomb, and Brian Somers; two sisters, Diane Keenan and husband Francis of Orlando, FL and Janet Warner-Ashley and Brad of Oconomowoc, WI; a brother, Rev. Thomas M. Warner and wife Nancy of Grafton, NH; a lifetime companion, Jan Warner of East Ryegate; one uncle, George M. Copeland of Portsmouth, RI; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Monday, January 18, from 5:30 to 7 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A celebration of his life will be held in Portsmouth, RI later in the summer. Burial will be at the St. Mary s Episcopal Cemetery in Portsmouth, RI.
